What is the correct way to brush your teeth?

Do you brush your teeth in a circular motion, horizontal or vertical?





I heard in a radio health show that the correct way to brush your teeth is a circular motion, but my dentist believes that the horizontal motion in the correct way.What is the correct way to brush your teeth?

Brush the outsides of the teeth first, then the insides.





Angle the brush at 45 degrees.





Brush in small circular movements, brushing hardest when moving away from the gums.





Work from the back of the each side of the mouth to the front.





Note though that, of the two, flossing is more important than brushing.
Considering that dental cleaning tools are rotary, I would conclude that a slight circular/elliptical motion is better.
