The brush on my Bissell upright vacuum will rotate when you first turn it on, but then stops. What's wrong?

I believe you need a new drive belt, or at minimum, a cleaning. Unplug your vacuum, and take off the plate on the bottom. You will have access to cleaning and checking your belt. Chances are, you can get a replacement belt at Walmart. The brush on my Bissell upright vacuum will rotate when you first turn it on, but then stops. What's wrong?
If the vacuum is only 4 months old, its still under warranty. Call the Bissell 1-800 customer support number that should be listed on a tag somewhere on the vacuum. They are usually pretty helpful.

A good way to remove paint from brush accidentally left overnight?

Anyone have any good tips for cleaning a paintbrush that sat overnight? It's just regular latex paint. I know I could buy a new one, but this is my favorite - I've had it for years and don't even know if I could get a similar one. Thanks!A good way to remove paint from brush accidentally left overnight?
As a Home Remodeling Company Owner, I have dealt with this issue repeatedly. Take a plastic coffee can or plastic container and put liquid dish soap and hot water and let paint brush sit in it over night. Second option, paint thinner in a can will work and allow to sit overnight will also work.A good way to remove paint from brush accidentally left overnight?
Sorry about your paintbrush... I know how it feels to forget your favorite brush overnight... Here's the only way I've found that helps:

Use goof-off. Sit the brush in it overnight and then rinse with soapy warm water. It works like a charm! You'll find it at your local home hardware or paint store:

pour some turpentine into a glass and put the brush in there.

I would suggest to leve it outdoors and away from children and animals.

also make sure you dispose of the glass safely
You might try hot water and see if that helps. Just soak it in a sink or a bucket with hot water. I don't know for sure if it will work but it's worth a shot.

How do I clean my makeup brush after my dog has chewed on it a little and slobbered it up?

HELP!!! How do I clean my makeup blush brush after my dog has chewed it up and slobbered it up?

Any help on this would be much appreciated please. Thanks all!How do I clean my makeup brush after my dog has chewed on it a little and slobbered it up?
you wash them. How do I clean my makeup brush after my dog has chewed on it a little and slobbered it up?
wash if you still want to keep it.. but you would proballi hav 2 use bleach or something strong.. but its better if you would just buy a new one
just wash it in detergent
buy a new one, and if u cant afford that sell ur dog to get the money.

jk

but seriously it only cost like 4 bucks for a new one
Use dish detergent and water. Use the palm of your hand to make a good lather and repeat until clean. Use a towel to dry the excess water, then let the brush dry overnight.
Just wash it with antibacterial hand, body, or dish soap for about 30 seconds. Rinse with hot water. All set.
A few drops of dishsoap and water. You should clean your make-up brushes regularly, anyway.
umm that is disgusting if you're going to keep it
u should throw it away because it is really bad for your skin and it could get infected. not healthy!
Actually give the dog the brush to finish off lol and buy a new one, the germs will be all over that brush vile ;-)
Silly, buy a new one! =)

Use the dog as an excuse.
buy a new one
You should get a new one. You don't want that near your eyes now.
buy a new one. It is so difficult to wash all of the soap and get all of the germs out from each bristle. Then those germs will get on your makeup then on your face. And even later in life if u throw away the brush the germs will still be on whatever makeup it touched.
Shampoo followed by a lemon juice or vinegar rince, followed by a hot water rince.
please dont listen to anyone saying to clean it!!! just throw it, you know where your dog licks, and you dont want those germs on your face. sorry if it was a fav, but its time for a new one.
any brand makeup brush cleaner

clean it two or three times
throw it out and buy a new one.
Use boiling hot water, let it get ';hot' then dip the brush in, let it soak, add SOME soap then rince and let dry it will look and feel find :)
Use makeup brush cleaner at any beauty supply store. You should do this once a week any way to keep your brushes and makeup and your skin bacteria free. Don't have this? Go buy it!

In the mean time, dish soap and warm/hot water, dry as much as possible on paper towels.
clean it
wash it with bleach, I personally would have thrown the thing away.
Put it under water and rub the slobber out.

Then, dry it off with a blow dryer so it gets fluffy again.

= )
either get a new one or wassh it in the dish washer or hand wash it

  • What's the best brush or way to comb/brush my hair so that it's straight and healthy?

I have a metal brush a bore hair bristle brush and a regular comb and a plastic brush. I really don't want to have to buy a new one unless it will really help me. I want my hair straight. What's the best brush or way to comb/brush my hair so that it's straight and healthy?
Theirs not any way to brush without damaging your hair. BUT, you can buy some sort of shampoo to get your hair more healthier. What's the best brush or way to comb/brush my hair so that it's straight and healthy?
Boar Bristle brushes aren't really good for the hair. It is more susceptible to splitting and breaking. But they are good for straightening the hair while drying with the hair dryer.

    Combing also breaks the hair.

Not sure if the plastic brush you have has that ball on the end of the bristle. If so, then this is better for hair, because it doesn't break and split the hair as much as the Boar Bristle Brush and comb.
when your hair is wet NEVER brush it. it breaks your hair off and makes it frizzier each time. when it is wet brush it with a WIDE-TOOTHED COMB. or you can simply run your fingers through it. only brush your hair when its dry. doing this along with minimizing use of heat such as hair dryers, straighteners and curling irons will get your hair healthy in no time. leave in condinitioners will help too. hope this helpes! :)

What is the best kind of brush to use on a long haired dog?

What are the slicker brushes used for? What is the best kind of brush to use on a long haired dog?
Is his long hair wire (like a Airedale) or fluffy (like a collie) or smooth (like a Lhasa)? That is how you would decide on what brush to use.

Also, Slicker brushes are used to brush out fur that the dog is shedding and to fluff out the fur.

EDIT::: I, personally, would use a fine tooth comb and a bristle brush. What is the best kind of brush to use on a long haired dog?
for a long haired dog, you want to use a hound tooth comb and a slicker brush, it really depends on the dog though, im a handler and i showed and bred afghan hounds. a slicker smooths the hair but wont go to the bottom layer of the hair, so you should alternate the slicker and the comb. but if its something more of a double coated breed (German shepherd dog, Pomeranian, ect) your going to want both comb slicker and something called an undercoat rake
It does depend on the breed of dog but as a general rule for average pet owners I advise universal slicker brush. It removes a good bit of undercoat %26amp; any tangles %26amp; small mats. It costs only 4-5 dollars thru most online stores like Petedge or Dr Foster %26amp; Smith. Follow up with a comb that was wide teeth %26amp; narrow teeth. Use the wide end first then smaller teeth to make sure all tangles are removed. Don't forget areas like armpits, behind the ears %26amp; stomach.
Slicker brushes are used for shedding fur and as a flea comb. The are uncomfortable for a dog and wont work that well on long haired dogs. The best brush you could use is just one with bristles or wire pins with plastic tips. They work well when detangling, without hurting the dog with the pointy wires of a slicker brush. Good Luck!
I have a slicker brush and honestly never use it. The slicker brush has such short needles it does nothing for tangles in the undercoat. It basically ';fluffs'; the outercoat. I prefer a good wide tooth metal comb for my cocker spaniels. Start at the skin and slowly work your way out, and be careful not to rake it against their skin. Hold the comb at an angle! Pay special attention to the armpits as that is where tangles like to hide.
Furminator they are expensive but work great!!!

What is the best round hair brush to use on fine hair to add volume?

I dry my hair with a hair dryer and small round brush. My hair is always flat. I want a brush that will help add volume when I dry my hair. I would also like suggestions for products/hair spray that will help with this also. What is the best round hair brush to use on fine hair to add volume?
I like tigi products....root boost is good for lifting the hair off the scalp. If you want volume, you need to turn your head upside down and dry the hair at your scalp and mid way through the shaft of the hair. Get you a med to large round brush with the metal center, to finish it off....make sure that you turn your head right side up for this. Be careful though, because many of the dryers that the general public have access are really high is watts .... this means that they reall get hot, and with the metal brush you can burn your hair if you are not constantly moving the air. If you can find one more professional, that has a cool shot button, get that one, because it is the heat that softens the hair so that it will accept curl or a bend, and it is the cool air that sets it, that is why if we get stuck with doing a stinking roller set in the little old ladies, once they are dry we allow them to sit and cool so that the curls will set. It is the same principle when using a blow dryer. You can also get yourself a large barrel curling iron to tame those stray hairs and give yourself a more polished look. What is the best round hair brush to use on fine hair to add volume?
You should use a large round vented hair brush. My favorite hair brush for volume is the brushlab fresh curls hair brush. You can get it here: http://www.brushlove.com/brushlab-fresh-thermal-round-hair-brush-22501.html Report Abuse

Use a LARGE!!!! brush. that will help and insted of curling it out curl the ends unerd and when your done flip you head upside down and shake shake shake lol
i don't like round brushes and blow-drying your hair when wet does not work use a volume hair spray!! i use pantene sheer volume outrageous hairspray non- aerosol !! the best like 5 bucks

How do I clean my grill brush?

It's the metal bristle type. You guys know the problem: it's greasy, sticky and black! How do I clean my grill brush?
Don't hassle with cleaning it. Go to Walmart and buy a new one. They are like 99 cents. Much easier. But if you must clean it, soak it in ammonia, in an old plastic container.

The grease will roll away. Then rinse really, really well. How do I clean my grill brush?
dog, if yo grill is that funky that yo grill brush needs cleanin, then you best get yoself a new grill, homey!
You can soak the brush in some commercial strength grease dissolver or save money and time and buy a new brush.
In the US we have a great product on the market called geased lightning great for grill grate too

spray on generously let sit for about 15 min then rinse well with hot water

best time to clean grill grate is when it's hot either prior to using after coals are hot or 20 min after cooking

you want to essentially ';burn off'; any residue or food particles and then use brush to basically knock off charred residue and food particles so they should be like char dust and you should never use water or wet applications when doing this that ';gunks'; up grate %26amp; brush

you can also use oven cleaner, or if you want to go real cheap

boil a 1/2 pot( about 4 c) of water after it reaches boil take off heat put brush end in water hopefully it will be completly submerged add 1 cup baking soda and 1 cup vinegar it will bubble overlet soak about 20 min and then while rinsing run an old fork through the bristles(this method is cheap but is kinda messy and then you have to deal w/greasy residue in the pot, which can be washed out fairly simple w/a scouring pad and some liquid dish detergent but it is MESSY)
i quirt dawn dish soap on it then hose it
when you are done grillin... leave the heat turned up for about 5 - 6 minutes and then clean the grill that way most of the crud will be burned off first.

or try waiting until it is worn out and get a new one..

    .
If it has a metal handle, stick the bristles inside the grill while it's fired up with a piece of tin foil shiney side down for about 5-7 minutes. This will help burn the big stuff off, but don't do it too long. It also helps clean the grill. The foil reflects the heat down and can damage the grill if exposed too long.

Dishwashers work wonders too, but the brushes are pretty cheap. I usually just buy a new one.

What is currently the best air brush makeup kit (brand and model) for personal use?

I am soliciting advice preferably from someone who owns and uses or has other experience in the use of air brush makeup compressors. The use of this compressor would be for daily makeup (foundation) application of one to two people. In my current research, I anticipate that the cost will be less than $400.00, but am looking for a high quality machine that has a life expectancy of at least 5-10 years.

How often should i brush my teeth if i want to make them whiter? Is ther a limt to how many times i shud brush?

I want to have whiter teeth and am thinking about brushing my teeth 3 times a day for 5 minutes each. Is that too much? How often should i brush my teeth if i want to make them whiter? Is ther a limt to how many times i shud brush?
There is no point in over brushing your teeth as it will make no difference to how white you can get them. Most peoples ';natural'; teeth are not Hollywood white. It can damage your teeth to over brush too. Nothing wrong with 3 times a day but not for 5 mins, the most important brush of the day is the one before bed and this should be done for 2 or 3 mins I think. The morning brush doesn't actually have much use in protecting teeth it's more for social courtesy!!

Sorry but comment below is inaccurate, it is more important to brush your teeth at night (ask a dentist)! How often should i brush my teeth if i want to make them whiter? Is ther a limt to how many times i shud brush?
Brushing your teeth isn't going to make them whiter. It just rids them of bacteria. Regardless, you should be brushing your teeth twice a day: once in the morning, once at night. It is though that it is more important brushing your teeth in the morning because bacteria collects much more easily because your mouth is moist; if you sleep with your mouth open it makes you more prone to gathering bacteria from the air. Technically you don't have to brush your teeth at night because what we drink during the day gradually washes off some of the gunk that we ate. Plus, overbrushing can cause your gums to bleed.

If you want to make your teeth whiter, don't invest in whitening strips. They make your gums sensitive and cost way more than they should. Use hydrogen peroxide. Mix a capful with mouthwash and swish it in your mouth for a few minutes. It's cheaper and doesn't cause sensitivity. Plus, peroxide is the main whitening ingredient in whitening strips.

  • What is the best kind of brush to use on my cat?

She is a shorthair but she sheds a LOT. Like, everything in my house is covered in her hair.

I need a brush that is easy to clean, but will pick the hair up really well, not just move it down her back. What is the best kind of brush to use on my cat?
I got a Furminator grooming tool last week. I was amazed that I actually got more loose hair off my short haired cats than off my long haired ones. I love this thing.

http://www.furminator.com/ Hint: It's on sale at Amazon.com for about half price. Get the medium size instead of the cat size.

If you don't want to get a Furminator, try using a comb instead of a brush. The comb will get out more fur from the undercoat (where shedding happens) than a brush will.

I haven't used one but I've heard alot of people speak well of the Zoom Groom. It's cheaper and might be worth a try.

http://www.amazon.com/Kong-Cat-Zoom-Groo鈥?/a>What is the best kind of brush to use on my cat?
Safari makes a really good one with retractable pins. It has a button on the back that makes removing the hair from the brush super easy. http://www.petmountain.com/show_product/鈥?/a> I use one on my Exotic Shorthair's dense short coat and it's great at getting out all the loose hair. Plus my cat actually loves getting brushed with it.
We have a short hair tabby that sheds terribly if not brushed. We use a Furminator brush. Be careful not to use it with too much pressure or you'll strip their undercoat TOO much and it will result in thinning hair.

Regular ';cat'; brushes just didnt work for us.

Now he's silky smooth and hardly sheds at all. All it took was about three days of off and on brushing with the Furminator and he wasn't shedding anymore. Now we just brush him when he's laying around.

We use the same brush on our double coated shepherd mix. It pulls entire wads of undercoat off of her - which is GOOD in her case in the summer. But she's silky soft afterwards.

They sell them with small, medium or large brush sizes. We use the medium I believe on both the cats and dogs. They're a bit more expensive than regular brushes but I highly recommend them because they really do work!
mine doesnt have a brand but it works really well. lots of soft bristles, oval shape, bristles are about half a fingers length. soak it in soapy water overnight weekly and sun it - ready to use again :)
I also use and recommend the furminator. The way i see it is your going to spend a lot of money on cheaper brushes trying to find one that works, when you could just save the time and spend a little more on the furminator.

What is the best type of brush for painting pewter miniatures?

Synthetic, natural sable, etc? Any specific brand names? What is the best type of brush for painting pewter miniatures?
I have only been painting for the last two or three years, and the learning curve has been steep at times.

When it comes to brushes, like any tool, use the best you can get. Winsor-Newton Series 7 sable brushes seem to be an industry standard. I have a few #2 Rounds and use them for just about everything. I have tried the P3 brushes, but I am only fond of the dry brushes at this point.

The new Citadel sable brushes are pretty nice, and relatively cheap compared to others. I picked up a few of the basic brushes and have expanded into the dry and fine detail brushes.

I think the sables hold their points and shape a lot better than anything synthetic. What is the best type of brush for painting pewter miniatures?
A very little one that does not shed.

Seriously, the type of brush has more to do with the type of paint you plan to use. Go to a real arts supplies store and ask a knowledgeable salesclerk about it. You may need to ask around until you find a knowledgeable one, but they should have at least one who knows paints and brushes.
If you have access to Citadel paints, try their brushes. I always had good luck with them.

How often do you brush your infant's teeth and what brush and paste do you use?

My 6 month old has 4 teeth and 2 more coming in. They came in when he was 5 months old.

I was brushing his teeth once per day, at night before bed.

I was thinking I need to start doing it after every bottle or meal.

I was using a finger brush but am now going to have to get a regular brush because he's been trying to bite my finger really hard while I use the finger brush.

How often do you brush your baby's teeth? How old are they? And what kind of brush and paste do you use?How often do you brush your infant's teeth and what brush and paste do you use?
For my 6 month old, I brush once a day at bedtime as he's only having one solid food meal a day for dinner. No toothpaste yet. Just a colgate toothbrush from the supermarket. It cracks him up for some reason, I think he likes how the brush feels on his gums, lol :)How often do you brush your infant's teeth and what brush and paste do you use?
I have a little finger brush with some gerber (I think?) toothpaste and I've been getting bit a lot too...ugh, hah. I need a soft bristled something or other. I saw that they made silicone bristled small toothbrushes so they can hold on to it -- they have them at babies r us.

anyways, I do it in the morning and at night, when I do mine. we're around each other all day, so he is with me in the bathroom and I just made it part of our routine. he's 8 months old and he has 8 teeth and 3 more on the way.
We brushed once a day at that age, just once before bed. I used CVS pharmacy brand because of the flavor.

Now at 22 months old we use a toddler size Dora brush with Dora paste. It is the kind you have to spit out though, but what toddler doesn't enjoy spitting without getting in trouble?
well, when my stanka was old enough to hold the toothbrush and imitate me I started putting colgate jr on her tooth brush

She always had her own toothbrush though that she could brush at her teeth with while I was doin mine.

She brushes her teeth everyday with me now but she's also 17 months now.

I didn't start putting toothpaste on it until she was like a year though
I brush his teeth in the morning and at night with an infant toothbrush. Just get one that's small enough for his mouth, and make sure it has soft bristles.

I don't use any toothpaste (he can't spit), just water. My son is 11 months old and has two teeth.
We brush his teeth in the morning and before bed. He's 14 months. We use the stages toothbrush and paste from Target. The toothpaste is an infant one so it's ok if they swallow it.
Every night thoroughly and briefly at midday. I use an infant toothbrush and infant toothpaste. Try Toys 'R' Us. They don't only sell toys there.
We have a super-soft bristled toothbrush specifically for infants. It's little and fat so perfect for her to hold, I think it's made by Colgate.

I run it across her teeth every time I brush mine (so, 2-3 times a day) then I let her chew on it for the 2 minutes or so it takes me to brush my teeth. She loves it because it makes her feel like a part of something and it's to my advantage since she should grow up knowing it's normal and I shouldn't have too many wars over it.

We don't use any toothpaste, just warm water for her. I don't think the use of a toothpaste is really necessary at this point and won't be for a while yet.

She's 7 1/2 months and has 6 teeth with 2 more on the way.
Many companies make infant brushes. I know the Butler G.U.M company makes one with an extended handle to make it easier on parents. As for paste...its not even necessary to use paste at such a young age. Its the action of brushing that is important, not the paste. If you want to use a paste then just check stores in your area for pastes acceptable for use on infants. As for how often...twive a day is good. In the morning and before bed. Just be sure to never put your baby to bed with a bottle (unless its just water) and also remember you child will need your help brushing until they reach the age of about 9 or 10. Alot of parents let young children brush their own teeth which is why so many end up with cavities.

  • What is the proper way to brush teeth?

I heard brushing your teeth too hard can be bad for your gums (gum recession), so how hard am I supposed to brush my teeth? Please give an example of how hard, like a comparison. What is the proper way to brush teeth?
This is the best website devoted to answer the very question you asked. I just with I had read this site when I was younger. Please really look at this.

http://www.doctorspiller.com/Prevention.鈥?/a>What is the proper way to brush teeth?
    in circles
If you ever seen an electrical toothbrush like an OralB Braun, you'll notice the brush-head will go in circular motions when you turn it on. This is so that both your teeth and gums can be brushed at the same time. Whenther manual or electric, position your toothbrush in between your gum and teeth and brush in light circles. The old method of brushing up and down works but it's little harder to work on. Of course, always use a soft-bristle toothbrush.
um like a soft touch and your suppossed to brush in circles
    in and out ( repete)
    circular motion
First, you should always use a soft bristled tooth brush. Next, you should brush up and down- not left to right. Finally, you should be able to brush your teeth like you are brushing your hair. Don't brush so hard you can feel pain, but don't brush so light you can't feel the bristles.

How often do you have to brush a dogs teeth?

Ok, I might be getting a Norwich Terrier. I need some advice on how often to brush their teeth. We already found out what they need to eat and stuff like that, but we need to know about teeth. Thanks! How often do you have to brush a dogs teeth?
At least every other day. This is an article that I found that really helped me when I got started.

http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?鈥?/a>How often do you have to brush a dogs teeth?
To be effective, every day, or at the minimum every other day. If you don't do it that often, you will allow the sticky plaque on her teeth enough time to harden into tartar. You won't be able to remove tartar with a toothbrush once it forms.

Don't forget that dogs need special doggy paste that doesn't contain fluoride - you can get the right stuff from your Vet. Your Vet (or vet technician) can show you how to take care of your dog's teeth when you are in for his/her first exam.

Good luck, and good for you for considering dental care as part of your dog's daily care.
I've never brushed my dogs teeth.

If you do, DO NOT use human products or toothpaste and do NOT use baking soda. Only use dog toothpaste.

I only have my dogs teeth cleaned by the vet when they have very bad breath and I can see very noticable build up on their teeth ( maybe once in their lifetime do they need their teeth cleaned by the vet). I guess this could vary by breed.

My two large dogs have great teeth and are 8 years old.

My small dog (rat terrier) did need her teeth cleaned by the vet and a year later still has great teeth and breath.

Feed hard dog food instead of soft for good teeth.

Give him/her a rawhide chew bone as a treat on occasion to help clean his teeth.
It depends on the dog I think. A good cleaning needs to be dine by the vet every year or so. To cut down on how often they need it, you can give them treats that are designed to clean their teeth and gums. A good example of this is Bright Bites. They have a section on their site about dental care for dogs that should help you too!

Everyday, preferably. Notable professionals (I can find the link somewhere) recommend everyday brushing, and it can even add years to your animal's lives. Dental problems are one of the most hidden reasons for a decrease in the quality-of-life for both humans and animals.
Never? Raw meaty bones are the most natural toothbrush. Twice a week and your dog's teeth will be kept in top condition. No toothbrush can clean your dogs teeth like raw bones.
I usually brush about every other day. I found using a dog toothbrush was to difficult my little maltipoo's mouth so I found some tooth wipes at petsmart and they work really well.
It depends on wether they're an inddor or outdoor dog.Mines is an outdoor so my groomer said that he doesn't need to have his teeth brushed
i brush my Dobermans teeth 3 or 4 times a week. she is 5 years old and she still has very good, white teeth.
    2 times a week
    Every day

What difference is there when you brush your teeth before and after breakfast?

This is a question the teacher asked in anatomy class. I think it has to do with bacteria, and so the second time you brush, you taste the toothpaste more. I would love to get some input. Thanks. What difference is there when you brush your teeth before and after breakfast?
all ways after food but we got used to doing it early in the morning. Its ok in the mornings but in the nights always after food %26amp; before going to bed. What difference is there when you brush your teeth before and after breakfast?
you know that caries is a multi factorial disease. 2 of the factors are bacteria and time. so the difference is when you brush after breakfast you are removing the bacteria, if you brush before breakfast you are leaving the food reminents on the tooth and it will have longer time to produce the acid which will leed to caries. So brushing after breakfast is better!!!

    does that make sense?!

How long will I have to brush my teeth for perfect white teeth?

I just saw that commercial for how long it would take to get your teeth clean or something like that. And i wanted know. If my teeth were generally ok, but they are not those perfectly white teeth. What would i have to do in order to get my teeth to be some pearly whites and for how long would i have to do it?How long will I have to brush my teeth for perfect white teeth?
mix peroxide and baking soda together and brush for 3-5 minutes after ever meal as well as before you go to sleep and when you wakeup, this should give you pearly white teethHow long will I have to brush my teeth for perfect white teeth?
3-5 mins of ' correct brushing ' will keep your teeth clean. If the enamel is retained your teeth will be white. Over an age our enamel wears out. You can get bleachin done from your dentist which would actually improve the color of our teeth. But by mere brushing however long you wont be able to make your teeth white. Infact your teeth will turn dull over period if you brush for a long time wrongly. If the color of your teeth suits your complexion then you must be happy with it. Coz too much of a white teeth doesnt suit all faces. In bleachin , we can decide the amount of color that suits your face. It is not true that only white teeth are beautiful. :)
you dont have to brush for a long time just go get some hydrogen peroxide (brown bottle) and swish it around in you mouth for as long as you want and the first time you use it !!! it worked for me!!
twice a day with true brushing.

What type is the best paint brush to use for Ceramics Glaze OR Acrylic Paints?

Particularly underglaze? I need to go out and buy some tomorrow, and I figured I'd ask first. I'm looking for a brush that leaves minimal bristle strokes. What type is the best paint brush to use for Ceramics Glaze OR Acrylic Paints?
Definately go for a synthetic nylon brush for acrylic paint. They produce minimal brush strokes, and little to no bristles will fall out. Tip: Never use sable or squirrel hair brushes with acrylic paint, they gunk up and ruin them, (plus they tend to be a little pricey-er and te last thing you want is to ruin a great brush)

Ceramic glaze, i think a sythetic nylon brush would be fine, but you'd jus have to wash is really well after, or get a cheapy one and throw it out after. What type is the best paint brush to use for Ceramics Glaze OR Acrylic Paints?
I've used acrylic before, and glazed ceramics back in high school. If you want something with little bristle strokes, try a soft hair brush like squirrel or whatever else they have now. Maybe a synthetic sable. The quality and shape depend on how you'll use and care for them.

How do I keep a paint brush from stiffening up?

I've cleaned my brushes real well. When I go to use them again the next day they are a bit stiff.....any suggestions on how to keep them from stiffening up?How do I keep a paint brush from stiffening up?
I am married to a painter and he always uses sherwin williams mineral spirits , but he does wash them first with water when he uses oil base he uses mineral spirits keep the water running on them and let them sit in the bucket so they will not dry out always wash in water and get enough of the paint out as soon as possible after your job is done, Hope this helps and Happy Painting:)))))))How do I keep a paint brush from stiffening up?
Some painters wrap them in plastic wrap and keep them in the refrigerator, especially if the brush is to be used in the next few days. Cold temps keep paint (latex, anyway) from setting up right away.
When using a paint brush over a long period of time, some of the paint begins to dry on the brush. That is the paint that is difficult to clean. I purchased a tool at Home Depot called a brush cleaning tool. It looks a lot like a hair comb but is made of steel tines like a fork. Helps considerably for cleaning.

Also after cleaning water-based or latex paints it seems to help if you do a final rinse in lacquer thinner. The colorant they use doesn't seem to come out completely with just water.
put them under hot water, get the paint out

Dry as much as you can, then wrap it in WET paper towel and put in a zip loc bag of some sort...Works everytime
If you're using latex paint put your brushes in a small pail of water, and always clean them well first....If you're using oil based paint put your brushes in mineral spirits and cover the entire bristles. And if you are just going to be taking a break for an hour or two you can put them in a plastic bag with a zip lock or use a rubber band to keep the air out...
put it in a baggie and seal it or put it in the freezer
put them in a zip lock bag and put them in the freezer over night...don't wash them first let them thaw out.....

    Happy Painting!!!!
Do you use the cleaner made just for cleaning brushes? The hobby stores have the product. Forgive me if I offended you with this answer but some do not know that there are cleaners made to clean brushes only and they do the job. The brushes do not stiffen. I am talking about art brushes and not paint brushes that are used to paint houses.
I don't wash them in between painting sessions. I put them in a clean grocery bag and make it as air tight as possible.
Try dipping in rubbing alcohol, then dry with an old towel.

    Best wishes
I do my cleaning and drying the simple way. When I have cleaned the brushes, I just shake off the excess liquid from the brush (much like a dog would shake off liquid from its body.) If you do this, remember not to shake in the direction of a clean wall. Do this outside, and on a wall covered with newspaper at least two pages thick. After doing this, I just leave the brush to air-dry. My brushes are usually fine this way, and don't stiffen up.

However, your question also prompted me to look into the web, and the link below is what I found.
keep them in a wet bucket. i had the same problem. It worked fine
You didn't say what you are cleaning them with? Knowing exactly what you are washing with would really help. After cleaning my brushes I always use Pink Soap Artist Brush Cleaner. I use a regular brush cleaner first then work the pink stuff in it helps keep them conditioned. http://www.dickblick.com/zz057/04/

Rinsing is key, if any of the cleaning product is left behind they are more likely to stiffen and using a product for cleaning brushes is helpful. It's also best to use good quality brushes many of the brushes out there are just not meant for re use they are cheap. You want to have your brushes drip dry afterwards do you have something you can hang them on to drip dry?

I hope this will work for you as well.
    maybe try drying them too
After cleaning the brushes, put them in water with liquid fabric softner for a little while. Works well for me

  • How can I clean a basting brush, without a diswasher?

How do I get all the marinade and crap out from between the bristles? I go through these things like water, and could probably save some $$ if I had a better way to clean them. After so many uses, mine get pretty foul. How can I clean a basting brush, without a diswasher?
You know what works excellent and is so simple it's funny. Plain dishwashing soap that has grease fighters and hot water. Squirt some soap onto the bristles and smoosh/rub them around in your hands. If it's you don't mind getting your hands dirty that is but its' fine since the soap will clean your hands at the same time. How can I clean a basting brush, without a diswasher?
    Boil them on the stove.:)
Buy a new basting brush that is made of that new silicone material. It can go right in the dishwasher with no trouble.
Soak it overnight in a glass of soapy water. Rinse well, and soak for a couple of hours in white vinegar. Rinse again.

What is the best size blusher brush to use?

I am just wondering what is the best size for a blusher brush? A small stubby brush or a large rounded brush? At the moment I use a small stubby brush %26amp; am concerned that a large brush would distribute too much blush? What is the best size blusher brush to use?
Use a blusher brush that is a combination of both. What is the best size blusher brush to use?
i've found brushes with soft bristles and long handles are easiest to apply and most recommended by beauty therapists.

small and stubby brushes are definately harder to use.
well no thats not true. always always use a large round fluffy brush. it makes it look more natural and it doesnt distribute more blush i promise. it looks nice. all makeup artists will say to use a fluffy powder brush also.

SL, I learned from my veterinarian that you're supposed to brush in a circular motion. You're always supposed to brush your tongue cuz that's where most of the germs that cause cavities are. I'd say it matters UNTIL YOU LOSE YOUR TEETH.---lol
I would say the method isn't as important as the fact that one does brush at least twice a day.
circular motion, also for good results dont put water in your mouth let the flouride sit and whiteen!
in small circular motions over every surface of your teeth.

How can I remind myself to brush my teeth twice a day?

I always forget to brush my teeth, how can I remember? Also how can I remind myself to take off my makeup at night and also put on deoderant every morning? How can I remind myself to brush my teeth twice a day?
I actually thought about this the other day.

Translate ';brush your teeth'; into some foreign language and make it into an elaborate piece of art and hang it on the wall. Nobody else needs to know what it means, but it's also a nice decoration! How can I remind myself to brush my teeth twice a day?
Just start noticing how scummy the back of your teeth start to feel. I'm a little OCD about brushing my teeth, but seriously. After a few hours the back of your teeth just feel dirty. As for the makeup and deodorant, just get into a schedule. For example, every night I take my pills, wash off my face, put on zit cream, brush my teeth, do my mouthwash, and then put in my rubber bands for my braces. I am always forgetting my deo though... I bought a mini-deodorant and I keep it in my backpack during school and in my purse during the summer. That way when I forget I can just slap some on.
Set an alarm on your fone to ring each time before your bedtime that reminds you to brush your teeth before you go to sleep.

Once it becomes a habit, you won't need the alarm anymore, and you'll do it yourself each time before you hit the sack =]

    Good luck.
    use check list

    write it on you hand

take off your make up as early as possible/if you'll be home the rest of the night take it off

  • Is it bad to brush your teeth more than twice a day? What if i brushed like five or more?

My gums would sometimes bleed so i started brushing my teeth alot during the day. After i ate, and just when i was just sitting there i would go and brush my teeth...up to like five or more times. Is that bad or could this help with the bleeding of my gums?Is it bad to brush your teeth more than twice a day? What if i brushed like five or more?
Your gums will probably bleed if you brush the heck out of them. I would say brush them THREE times tops.Is it bad to brush your teeth more than twice a day? What if i brushed like five or more?
yeah i need to upgrade to a softer one mines start to bleed
it isn't bad brushing your teeth more than twice a day - the more you brush, the more your teeth will benefit. the fact that your gums are bleeding wen you brush is a good sign. it shows that your brushing your teeth properly. if you keep brushing well your gums will become more resiliant and therefore won't bleed. hope this helps m8
Use a soft brush and don't use too much pressure. Actually, brushing five times daily will help your gums and teeth. You'd make a dentist proud.
Brushing your teeth, to clean your teeth, is only necessary after you eat something. To stimulate your gum tissue use a soft bristle brush and keep it on your gums, gently brushing in small circles.

You can do this as often as you want, as long as it is gentle and you aren't abrading the tissue.

Your dentist should be able to give you some rubber tips to help you out.

Don't brush your teeth too hard, it will wear away your enamel.
It might help your gums but it could ruin your teeth. Brushing your teeth too much will wear the enamel - so it's not a good thing at all. It won't hurt if you over-brush every now and then, but you do not want to keep it up for a long period.

I'd recommend brushing 3 times at the most (after each meal), and using a good mouthwash and floss. I use an oral irrigator as well, which I find great. If you do this for about 2-3 weeks, your gums will improve a lot. Also visit your dentist to see if you need a clean. You might have tartar build up under your gum line which is causing the bleeding and no amount of brushing will fix that without a professional clean.
That is a good thing and it will help you very much in the future

Brush cookies with egg whites before baking?

I heard of many people brushing their cookies with egg whites or a mixture of egg whites and milk before baking. I'd like to know why? Will it make the cookies any better?Brush cookies with egg whites before baking?
If the cookie dough recipe already contains eggs (most do), the brush with egg whites is unnecessary. It can't hurt anything, but it won't improve the cookies much. However, egg (or milk, or even water) can be used as an adhesive: brush the almost-baked cookies, and add your decorations (sprinkles, M%26amp;M's, etc). The objects will be baked permanently onto the cookies.

In the case of an eggless dough or batter (like most breads, pie crusts, etc.), brushing with egg will add a nice shine to the finished product. Also, with breads, it will add an appealing, chewy texture to the crust.Brush cookies with egg whites before baking?
Sometimes people brush cookies or other desserts with an egg wash because they help make a golden shine on the finished desserts. It's also used to help stick sugar or sprinkles to the cookies so that it doesn't fall off when it's done baking.
no i wouldnt suggest doin that.. only maybe if its a sugar cookie but i still wouldnt.. most do that for make bisquits, scones rolls etc..
An egg wash is supposed to give it that golden shine color. It's done a lot on pastries, breads, rolls, certain cookies etc. I made rugelach cookies a few weeks ago and it called for an egg wash. Other cookies though I don't see it necessary; like chocolate chip cookies. Some people say it tastes different too but I really don't taste anything- maybe if you coat it on thick enough you'll get some cooked egg on top haha.
I use just milk, I don't think the egg white would make them any better.
It will give the cookies a more golden color.

    It's just visually appealing.

For example, on meringue pies, egg whites are whipped until it becomes stiff and then its put on the pie. When the pie is done baking, the egg whites become a gorgeous golden color.
Some types you should, but not all because it will make them crispy.

I try and try and can never get it working please help?!! THANK YOU!How do you choose a brush color in photoshop cs3 without it blending in?
    Your description is confusing.

If you don't know what you are doing you can't describe it. If you can't describe it I can only guess it has something to do with transparency. I doubt some of your words are accurate. Blending? Changing? Random? it may seem that way to you but it probably is not the actual case.

    This is a simple procedure.

You ought to get the color you have selected if you click on the swatch in Options Bar while the Brush Tool is activated. Make sure Transparency is set to 0 so the brush stroke completely covers whatever it is painted over.

lol so like i once used this brush that has those like black bristles and like u wouldnt use it to brush ur hair but i ran it through my hair and bc of the static it produced it kept my hair straight with out using a straightner! Is a paddle brush or a round brush better to straighten the hair?
if you are going for volume use a round brush my salon i go to uses a round brush to straighten my hair (my hair is really curly and i can't straighten with a straightener so i know that a round brush works alot) i was reading a magazine the other day and it said for flatter straighter hair use a paddle brush
round brush w/ a blow dryer
a paddle brush straightens the hair better because it makes it flat. =)

It leaves little scratches that allow bacteria to get a foothold which in turn = Cavities :(

    Furminator!!!

You don't have to spend a great deal of money for a good brush. The key will be in frequent/daily grooming.

All you really need is a brush and a flea comb. The comb is what will really do the trick - it's excellent for digging in and getting that undercoat especially with long haired cats.

As for the brush, I prefer the wire bristle kind - it doesn't get in as deep as the comb but it does a better job than the natural or nylon bristles.
There's really not enough information about the nature of your grooming situation to answer this question. The best brush would depend on whether your cat was long-haired, short-haired, thick or thin coated.
Furminator. It works great on both my short and longhaired cats. You can get it for a lot less online through Amazon or Entirelypets.

Also, after brushing wipe the cat down with a warm, wet washcloth. The cat likes it and it also reduces dander.

  • How many of you actually brush your teeth for two minutes?

You know how the dentist tells you to brush your teeth for ow minutes at least twice a day? Well, I honestly don't do that, two minutes is a LONNNGGGG time to stand in front of the sink. Am I gross or normal? How many of you actually brush your teeth for two minutes?
You should floss first to loosen up any debris, then brush- yes- for a whole two minutes. I have an automatic toothbrush that stops after two minutes. That person who said ';intensity'; is way wrong, if you brush too hard you can cause recession, think of it as a tooth cleaning/gum massage. Brushing your teeth and gums stimulates cell turnover, reduces bacteria, and disrupts tartar/plaque formation. Brushing for 2 minutes is a small sacrifice for good oral health- 2 minutes of brushing reduces the chance of needing fillings which can take an hour per filling. How many of you actually brush your teeth for two minutes?
i brush for 2-3 mins, i used to time myself with my watch, now i count out in my head, i count to 15 for the right side, 20 for the front, 15 for the left, then back to 20 for the front, 15 for the right, 20 for the front, and 15 for the left. that way all my front teeth that ppl see get brushed for about 60 seconds, each side gets brushed 30 secounds, then i brush the tops of my bottom teeth, 10 secs for the ones on the right, 10 for the ones in the middle, 10 for the ones on the left, and i mimic that with the bottoms of my top teeth, i guess thats a total of 3 mins, but i bet i count a little faster that actual seconds, so 2-3 mins.
Haha i actually brush it for 3 - 4 mins. I don't know why but i'm obsessed with having clean teeth. Then i do flossing and mouthwash =]

Ehh i'd think you're gross (but hey, that's just me!) but i'm sure you're normal! xD
I actually brush my teeth for the full two minutes. I turn on iTunes and just watch the time. :) It goes by faster when music is playing. I mean, it's two minutes out of your day, so I rather have nice clean teeth. :D
id say normal..unless you have tooth toons or somthing nobodys really gonna have like a timer or somthing i usually only brush for 1 min..i dont think its really the time you spend rather than the intensity.
Our dentist gives out these timers, I use that, and it really does make a difference, like I'll notice if I don't brush my teeth for 2-3 mins, vrs. 30 seconds.
My electric toothbrush times it for me. Two minutes exactly. ^..^
I do. And I have really nice teeth. (Not trying to be conceited or anything)
    i do. i probably take 3 minutes

How did you manage to brush your teeth and eat right after your wisdom teeth got taken out?

What did the dentist say right after? Can you infect it easily? I might have mine removed soon. Just want to know others' experiences. Thanks! How did you manage to brush your teeth and eat right after your wisdom teeth got taken out?
The dentist will give you a written sheet of instructions about how to care for your teeth after the wisdom teeth are extracted. You be careful to stay away from the empty sockets for a couple of days while the healing takes place, You may rinse around the extraction sites with simple salt water slightly warmed. Use a soft-bristle toothbrush for the remaining teeth as well as floss. Some traces of bleeding may appear for a day or two, but likely won't get infected, even though there will be tenderness. As you eat, you'll try your best to avoid chewing anywhere near the sore site and cut your food up into smaller pieces to reduce the amount of chewing near the extraction site. How did you manage to brush your teeth and eat right after your wisdom teeth got taken out?
In all likelihood, you will be given some general info, but no how-tos.

    So here's mine ;)

How to brush your teeth: use two brushes. One is your regular brushes for your teeth and a special one for your surgical site. It's called a post-surgical toothbrush (google it). You will use salt and water as a mouthwash. Floss your other teeth as usual.

How to eat: you need proteins and calcium to recover. So eat a lot of dairy (milk, yogurt, icecream), broth, soy products, and blended grilled chicken. Stay away from fruit juice till you are in day 5 when you can start using a straw (fruit juices have acid and that won't help with the healing but you do need vitaimin C for healing, so start pumping orange juice when the risk for dry sockets subsides).

Infect easily: yes, as long as you have the stitches. You will be put on antibiotics for 10 days, afterwards your stitches will be removed.

Don't worry about the rest and good luck.
The oral surgeon will give a book, and a few sheets on how to care for your mouth. You'll be very tired so they will ask you to bring someone, probably your parent. The first day my mom got me a milkshake and I could barely drink it and it was basically tasteless! It will be very hard to eat for a few days maybe almost a week. All I ate were mashed potatoes, soup, mac and cheece and other soft things. Brush your teeth gently and you may rinse your mouth with salt water, but do not swish! Be careful by not smoking or using a straw- that's how you can get an infection.

    Good luck! : )
I have had all four wisdom teeth taken out, and they say soft food or liquid is the best for the first 24 to 48 hours. It just depends if they are pulled right out or if they are extracted when you are put asleep. But it is easy and to so bad.

How can I keep the toothpaste on my electric brush while brushing?

Whenever I brush with my electric (motorized) brush, one of those oral-b ones, the toothpaste flies off due to the rapid movement of the brush head and lands in the bottom of my mouth. This has been happening for quite some time, but i only fully realized it until maybe a year or two ago. It is likely that my brushing becomes much less effective. What can I do to prevent or lessen the problem? How can I keep the toothpaste on my electric brush while brushing?
I just put the toothbrush on my tooth surface before I turn it on. Works for me! How can I keep the toothpaste on my electric brush while brushing?
You need too not turn on the electrioc toothbrush before you out it in your mouth.. you might want to brush normal first.. then turn it on and continue.. Or if you dont like any of these maybe go back to the old fashion way =] HOPE I HELPED
Check the instructions again. Most electric brushes are made to be used without paste.
brush it on ur teeth first like u would with a manual toothbrush for a few seconds then turn it on and that way u have paste on all ur teeth.

What is the best brush to use on a cat?

My cats both are shedding more now that spring is coming and I try to sit and brush them daily. One likes it and the other hates being brushed, but I do it anyway. I use a flea comb that seems to get alot of hair, when I use a slicker brush it just makes the hair go flying around the room. I am looking for something that will help the most and be comfortable for my Cats. What do you use? Could you please find a picture or be descriptive in your answer so that I can know what to buy? get a brush that is a glove. thats what i have to use on my forever shedding tabby. he loves it. but when i try to use other brushes he tries to bite by hand off so the glove works pretty good with him. they are less than 10 dollars at petco/petsmart
I use a regular comb. My flea comb tends to pull the hair more and makes them mad. After the regular comb, I finish up with the Ionic brush. It makes them smell good, has a removable ';plate'; at the base of the bristles to make removing hair from the bush a snap. If your cats go outside the ionic brush is ideal because it removes any bad, or less than enjoyable, odors. Since I started that routine my cats are more relaxed with their brushing. I've heard that the mitts work well, and the cat thinks you're just petting them, but I haven't tried one myself.

  • What type of paint brush should I use to paint my bed?

It is stained cherry colored right now, and someone told me that you can paint over stain. I don't want alot of brush strokes and I want it to look good. I am thinking about painting it black. Also, what type of paint should I use? What type of paint brush should I use to paint my bed?
First.. Is the stain covered with a laquer or polyeurathane? If so,You MUST remove all of that sealant off first or your paint will not stick. Any time it is bumped it will peel like an overripe peach..

With flatwork or light contours, a roller would be a good idea. If it has any kind of millwork, you will need to use a brush for that area..

The brush/paint question is always an interesting one.. most people use latex cause it's cheap and easy... An oil based alkaloyd is a little harder to clean up but has a harder finish.

The brushes now a days tell you what kinds of paints and stain they work best with .. I like the Purdy brushes.

Whatever you do... DO NOT cheap out on the brush.. that will make a huge difference.. Horse hair, china bristle, then the poly brushes are best better, good in that order but the cost goes up alot.. For a one shot deal nad for what you are doing a good middle of the road brush in th 7-20$ range will work. What type of paint brush should I use to paint my bed?
If you don't want brush strokes...then why not use a roller?
Lightly sand and spray in an open area is correct. If you don't want to spray, use a stain with a cloth, allthough you may have to add a polished finish, if you want it to shine. There are so many colors.
Use one of those cheap sponge brushes. Use low gloss oil based enamel.
back would probably work great and for the best quality an oil base paint secures really nicely to the finish even though it is a little more pricey you may need to prime the surface first our roughen it up a bit with sand paper

a wide boar hair brush would do the trick im sure even though you could use rollers it doesnt go on as smoothly and sometimes leaves little fibers behind if you don't get the pricey ones

    good luck :]
For intricate work like the mullion on a window use a sash brush that is angled and about 1-1/2 inch wide.

For doors, windows and trim use brushes that are 3 inch wide and have a straight edge. If the brush has a narrow end then it will retain more paint than a flat-ended brush.

you need to sand it first. spraying might be nice, if you know how, can be a little tricky to get it even.

Otherwise the brush is just a brush for paint not stain. Probably want to use a good primer like kilz or kilz paint from walmart. The brush strokes don't usually come from the brush, just from going back over the same area. Make sure you have plenty of paint on your brush so you don't have to repaint over the same stroke.

How often should I brush my German Shepard with a deshedding tool?

I have a bamboo deshedding tool, works great and is half the price of the furminator, but my shepard still sheds alot. How often should I use the deshedding tool on her? Every night? I don't want to strip her bald, but I want as much loose hair off her as possible. How often should I brush my German Shepard with a deshedding tool?
Heavy shedding is sometimes due to dry skin.

Your best bet is to take her to the groomers for a bath using an oatmeal or sensitive skin shampoo and a conditioner. THEN, ask the groomer to blow out the undercoat with the force dryer. You can use the Bamboo tool on her after that, maybe once or twice a week. The super moisturizing shampoo and conditioner will help decrease the shedding.

We humans get dry skin in the winter, too. Dogs are no different!

Be careful using the deshedding tools too much -- although they are very safe and effective, they are still essentially a ';blade'; and can cause irritation if used repeatedly over the same area. How often should I brush my German Shepard with a deshedding tool?
I deshed my GSD's at least twice a week and use an oatmeal shampoo once a month.... I also have started putting a little bacon drippings (oil) in their food which seems to help.... But my house is the king of hair!!!
I would brush your dog once a week to get out the loose hair. The hair wont come out unless it is loose.
It is unlikely you will ';strip her bald'; as German Shepards shed a lot. Brush her every day - even twice a day.

How often can I brush my teeth with baking soda without negative side effects?

I heard about this method, but I also heard there were negative side effects, like weakening your enamel, or so. Is this a safe method to use and how often should I use it?How often can I brush my teeth with baking soda without negative side effects?
It depends on what you are brushing with. An electric toothbrush with a very dry, caky mix will literally remove enamel!

Baking soda is abrasive and people typically use it to reduce stain but clinical studies have shown that patients who use baking soda over time can actually increase the amount of stain because the baking soda is abrasive and causes microscopic scratches in the enamel surface that will trap stain over time.

Baking soda can be beneficial but the risks outweigh the benefits. Whitening toothpastes have proven to cause sensitivity in teeth but there is NO evidence it whitens teeth so don't waste your money.

Just brush, floss and have regular check ups and you shouldn't need baking soda. If you want whiter teeth, don't waste your money on crest white strips, have your dentist make you custom bleach trays. Good luck and happy new year! How often can I brush my teeth with baking soda without negative side effects?
I brush with pure baking soda almost every day. I have been doing so for many years. Occasionally I use a baking soda toothpaste too. I am having dental work done (2 crowns)

and my dentist says my teeth that don't need work are just fine and my gums are in great shape.
That's how people had to brush their teeth before there was toothpaste. My brother has braces and has to brush his teeth with baking soda three times a day, he's been doing it for over a year and there are no side effects yet.
2 times in a week is good. And it works a little bit.
i use it twice a week but max. 3 times a week

What are the different brush strokes that you can utilise to achieve different effects with acrylic painting?

What are the different brush strokes and/or techniques that I can utilise to achieve different effects with acrylic painting? What are the different brush strokes that you can utilise to achieve different effects with acrylic painting?
At times, different types of brushes are used, like a fan brush to smooth an edge or simulate grass/weeds. There are brights and longs, each having straight end edges, the longs being longer. there are filberts that are flat but have rounded ends to the hairs. There are different types of hairs, natural (bristle, sable) and synthetic that often imitate the natural type hairs.

Strokes are affected by all the above factors and more.

Dry brush means you drag the brush lightly, or lightly and quickly, across the surface of the canvas (or paper or board), so that it doesn't paint a solid stroke but a broken one, leaving unpainted pieces.

There are many types of strokes--the most important lesson I ever learned was, ';Make the brush say the form.'; This means that when you make your strokes, move the brush in the direction the form goes. If you're painting vertical cliffs, make your brush strokes vertically. If you're painting a calm, horizontal sea, make your strokes left to right, horizontally. If you're painting a round bush, make your strokes with round, circling motions.

Best advice, in addition to the above, get a brush and a piece of paper, and make every kind of stroke you can invent, in every possible direction. Watch closely what happens. Take notes. Best way to learn I know.

  • What is the best brush to use on my SHEDDING rabbit?

He sheds SO BAD I can hardly stand to hold him anymore! Which is really horrible because he's my baby and I love to hold him.

I'm using a regular pet brush on him, but it's doing a crappy job, and I don't think it gets deep down to what's really shedding. What is the best brush to use on my SHEDDING rabbit?
Also bear in mind that rabbits' skin is very, very sensitive, so you don't want anything that's going to scrape his skin while you brush him. Our indoor Netherland Dwarf has a chinchilla coat - his fur is very, very fine, and thick, so when he moults, there's a lot of fine hair floating everywhere! We find the very best thing is to sit him on the couch, and gently but firmly rub his entire body back and forth with our hands made damp with water - the loose fur will stick to your damp hands and come out of his coat very easily, and because it's sticking to your damp hands, it doesn't fly everywhere quite so much! And our bunn loves this - he considers that we're grooming him just as we should :-) Try massaging your bunn from head to tail with your hands damp - it works so well for our bunn. What is the best brush to use on my SHEDDING rabbit?
i take a lint brush to my rabbit lol Report Abuse

I generally use a slicker brush and a damp hand. They can and often do seem to shed mountains of fur, which gets into every place! Be gentle with the slicker brush as they can be quite pointy and if you press too hard it will hurt, but I have found these to be the most effective on a heavily shedding rabbit.
what kind of bunny do you have???

I have a rex, with the really thick fur and I actually use a dog brush on her. It's the kind with the deep metal spikes and gets right down to the skin. She loves it. It's like a bunny back scratcher and really picks up the loose fur. I empty the brush about two or three times while brushing her in one sitting. Like I said, it picks up the loose fur!

If you have an angora or a lionhead, which are known for their fur, you should look into a groomer that will deal with rabbits. They might be able to give your bunny a little trim and help with all the fur loss.

Sounds like he's going through a big molt, which is normal given the time of year and with spring coming.

very good pickWhat is a good brush for painting enamel?
It has to be Natural bristle. (normally those are black fibers) If it is multicolored or semitransparent then it is more likely nylon or polyester(fishing line). Not good for oil paints.

I personally like a 2 1/2'; sash brush(angle cut). Not the cheapest you can find either(because they use coarser bristles) Also get some paint thinner....put your paint in a larger container if it is a new can of paint and add about 10% thinner to it and stir it thoroughly with a stir stick(not your brush) Being a little thinner makes the paint flow level like water instead of flowing like molasses in January.
Purdy brushes are great. I know professional painters who swear by them. Oil based paint requires a natural bristle brush, and Purdy makes good ones. The finest are ox bristle, but they are expensive. Most Purdy brushes retail for about $10-$20, with ox being higher. Having said all that, painting metal surfaces is pretty difficult. The best way to handle this surface and get the finish you want would be to spary it. If you choose to do this yourself, use a spray head that can atomize the paint into very fine droplets. Remember, several light coats are better than one heavy coat. If you haven't spray painted before, practice on some scrap or another surface before you tackle the real project. Good luck.

What is a good brush for painting enamel?

Im painting a metal cabinet with oil based enamel. I want to have a nice, smooth surface with no brush marks, what would be a good type of brush for doing so? It has to be a bristle type brush, not a foam brush. What is a good brush for painting enamel?
very good pickWhat is a good brush for painting enamel?

Good luck.

A china bristle brush or an air gun. You may want to thin it down with a little varsol if you use a brush so that it will sread itself out after it's been brushed.

  • What kind of grooming brush is best for a wire haired dachshund?

I mean this question just to be for normal everyday people like me.

    I'm not a professional groomer.

So what is the best type of brush to use on a wire haired dachshund?

Maybe a pro groomer or a very experienced person with wire haired dachshunds would be best to answer this. What kind of grooming brush is best for a wire haired dachshund?
I would just go to the local pet store and get a basic hair brush. They usually have an oval head with metal points evenly spaced. They are best for dogs with coarse, or long coats. What kind of grooming brush is best for a wire haired dachshund?
Get a slicker brush, It pulls out the dead hairs, dirt and stimulated the natural oils so the dog will have a nice shinny coat. At Dollerama here in our area they have the best brushes. We started using them at the salon and gave them a way to customers. They lasted us a long time and only cost one dollar.
The best brush is a slicker brush. Go to wal-mart. They are the brushes with lots of thin wire bristles that are angled. This is a great brush that works best on breeds with wire or longer coats. It gets all the way down to the skin, and prevents mats and tangles.
    NONE!!!!

The breed is supposed to be HAND-STRIPPED!!!!!!

There won't BE any coat to brush.....a comb will be plenty.

    AFTER it's stripped.

LOL...great 'help'; from the nitwits above,eh?
Never heard of a wire haired but I LOVE Dachshunds anyway so maybe a soft one?

I was not so sure so if that's not right then sorry! :(

Is there a good brush for cleaning custom wheels?

I have custom aluminum spoke wheels and it's tough to get the brake dust and dirt off the backside and between the spokes. Does anyone know of a good brush that would work?Is there a good brush for cleaning custom wheels?

I've never used a brush to clean my rims. There's a chance of them scratching them. I'd use something like Meguiars Wheel Brightener (http://www.meguiars.com/?detailer-wheel-… and use a soft rag to clean them. It might take longer than a brush, but won't scratch up your rims.
NO SUCH THING. IT IS UP TO THE CHEMICAL TO CLEAN IT. OTHERWISE, YOU HAVE TO BUY NEW WHEEL. ONCE THE BRAKE DUST COOKED ON TO THE RIM, IT STAY THERE FOREVER LIKE RUST ON STEEL.
not really just use a towel or wash them
