Is a cooking brush a simple or compound machine?

I'm doing a physical science project and I am wondering if this is a simple or compound machine. If it is a compound machine, what type of simple machines are contained in it?Is a cooking brush a simple or compound machine?
A machine implies you're converting one form of energy into another... I don't know if I would even classify a cooking brush as a machine.

However, if you consider moving sauces from a container to a product... I would think it's a simple machine... sort of like a hairy screw. The hairs absorb the liquid and transfers it to another location... like a screw.
